Ingredients

  • (8 oz) Freshly brewed coffee
  • (2 tbsp) Butter
  • (1 tbsp) Optional: MCT Oil or Coconut Oil
  • Optional: a dash of cinnamon and/or cardamom

Instructions

  1. Add 1 oz of coffee and blend butter, MCT oil, and optional collagen with an immersion blender.
  2. Add in the remainder of the coffee.
  3. Alternatively, blend all ingredients in a high-powered blender.
  4. The high-fat content of the butter and oil helps feed energy and the brain as well as keep coffee jitters at bay. It creates a creamy rich blend similar to a latte. Cinnamon helps to balance blood sugar and cardamom helps to balance coffee jitters as well.
  5. Note: Coffee during pregnancy is a personal choice. Everyone reacts differently. You can choose decaf or stick to a maximum of 8 ounces per day. In postpartum, we advise abstaining from coffee for the first few weeks to make sure you can nap throughout the day. Some babies are more sensitive to coffee in breast milk. If you find your baby is not sleeping well or experiencing colic or reflux, you may want to eliminate coffee from your diet. In the later months postpartum, Butter Coffee is a great way to incorporate a beloved drink back into your diet.
