Overnight Oats

Overnight oats are most beneficial during the first 6 months postpartum. They make great 1 handed breakfasts and snacks to keep on hand. Oats are galactagogues that help to support + increase lactation. Soaking grains overnight or for a minimum of 8 hours helps to release the phytic acid which increases absorption of nutrients and makes them easier to digest. You'll want to eat these within 3 days which will be easy! They are excellent breakfasts + snacks for the whole family.

Ingredients

  • Rolled oats (3/4 cup)
  • Cinnamon (dash)
  • Milk or alternative (3/4 cup)
  • Coconut cream (2 tbsp)
  • Maple Syrup (1 tbsp)
  • Optional toppings: nut butter, berries, hemp seeds, banana

Instructions

  1. In a pint mason jar, pour in the oats and mix in the cinnamon.
  2. Pour in the milk and coconut cream. Stir well.
  3. Stir in the maple syrup.
  4. Let sit for 5 minutes and then stir again gently.
  5. Store in the refrigerator overnight so the oats have time to soak and sprout for optimal digestion.
  6. Top with berries, nut butter, and/or hemp seeds.
