Enchilada Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp Butter or Coconut Oil
  • 1 small Onion, diced
  • 2 cloves Garlic
  • 14 oz can of Canned Crushed Tomatoes
  • 1 cup Bone or Veggie Broth
  • 1 tsp Oregano
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric
  • 1 Tbsp Cumin, ground
  • 1 Tbsp Chili Powder
  • 1/4 tsp Chipotle Powder, optional

Instructions

  1. Heat a medium sauce pan on medium high heat.
  2. Add butter and disperse around the pan.
  3. Sautee the onion + garlic for 2 minutes.
  4. Add the crushed tomatoes, bone broth, and spices.
  5. Salt + Pepper to taste.
  6. The chipotle can be quite hot, add to your taste.
  7. Simmer for 15-20 minutes.
  8. Allow to cool slightly then transfer to a blender.
  9. Blend on high until smooth.
  10. Store in a quart-sized jar in the refrigerator or use immediately on your favorite enchilada set.
